Aprender Inglés

Mucha gente estamos de acuerdo en que el conocer inglés es importante cara a las relaciones internacionales y a la comunicación en este mundo globalizado.

Lo que no parece que sea tan obvio es la forma en la qeu lo intentan enseñar en la Comunidad Valenciana. En esta Comunidad lo que hacen es impartir una asignatura en lengua inglesa (Educación para la Cuidadanía, EPC) y por lo tento los exámenes los realizan en la misma lengua. Parece que la idea es un poco complicada de llevar a cabo, ya que el nivel de inglés de los alumnos de 2º de ESO deja un tanto que desear para que sean capaces de entender la asignatura, por lo que, para facilitar la labor, la Comunidad ha dispuesto que las clases las impartan dos profesores, siendo el segundo de los cuales un profesor de Inglés que se encarga de traducir…..

Claro a la hora de los exámenes no hay traducción y a los chavales de 12-13 años se les hace el examen un tanto cuesta arriba, ya que en el primer examen realizado de esta asignatura sólo lo aprobaros dos alumnos de un total de aproximadamente 200. Eso sí los dos alumnos que aprobaron eran de origen británico.

Va siendo hora de que en este país los gobernantes tengan más seriedad y que no nos tomen el pelo a los ciudadanos, que cumplan la ley y que dediquen sus esfuerzos no a criticarse mutuamente sino al bien y progreso de este pais.

Y si alguien quiere probar, reproduzco el texto del examen a ver cuánta genta lo entiende o lo pudo entender con 12-13 años.

El examen de ‘Citizenship studies’

«A young king of ancient Persia ascended the throne full of great wishes. Willing to learn, he summoned the wise men of the Court and asked them to write a summary of the history of humanity. This took them thirty years. Once they had finished it, they loaded their five hundred volumes onto twelve camels and went to the palace. But the king, who was already in his fifties, said: «I won’t live for long, I will die before having read it. Write a shorter version». The wise men started to work again. Ten years later, they brought the summary to the palace. This time they only needed three camels to carry the volumes. But the king, who was already in his sixties, did not feel like reading so many pages and asked them to write a shorter version. This new version took them ten years, and they needed just one camel to carry it. However, during this time, the king’s sight had been getting worse, so he needed something even shorter. After five years of work, the wise men reduced the work to one volume. However, by then the king was ill in bed. He told them sadly «Am I going to end my life without having learned the history of humanity?» The eldest wise man leaned towards the headboard and whispered «Majesty, the history of humanity could be summarised in three words: Humans are born, suffer and die».
